Warning: Spoilers
GHOST WRITER is one of those cheesy and lame 1980s comedies in which one of the main characters is a friendly ghost. The story is about a woman who buys a beach house only to find that it's haunted by the ghost of a deceased Hollywood starlet who was found drowned in the 1960s. In plot twists that will surprise nobody, it turns out that the starlet was murdered and the ghost now seeks vengeance. The film features Audrey and Judy Landers as the lead roles, the latter quite effective as a bubble-headed celebrity, reminding me of the actress in the LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS remake. However, the rest of the film has too many lame characters, forced attempts at unfunny humour, and Anthony Franciosa slumming it as the villain of the piece.
