'Zombification' in the alps! [+41%]

Warning: Spoilers
You don't really expect to watch a film with a title such as this to have a pioneering story or characters. An experiment to create artificial snow goes awry turning people (and wildlife) into bloodthirsty zombies. The question here is: does the film manage to offer what the title says? Sort of. However, the zombies here are slow-moving and unharmful whenever the writers deem them so.

So when the director chooses to kill some characters off, the zombies appear to be a threat, but the rest of the time they're more or less easy pickings for the protagonists. The 'slice & dice' sequences tickle a funny bone or two once in a while. Like when zombie movement syncs well with dancing at a pub, when the old lady bartender says zombie bites could be negated by pouring schnapps over them, when the same lady fires a round of shots at the zombies but manages to hit everything else but them and more scenes like these. The kills serve as guilty pleasure for gorehounds.

There's a romantic angle inserted in between which doesn't exactly come across as too convincing. The specials-effects work appeared to be shoddy on several occasions. Comparisons with Dead Snow (and its sequel) are totally invalid. The Norwegian splatter films are way ahead in terms of writing and execution.

Verdict: Makes you laugh both intentionally and unintentionally!
