Solid Duck Tales prologue

Warning: Spoilers
"Sport Goofy in Soccermania" is a 20-minute cartoon from 1987, so this one has its 30th anniversary this year. I must say I don't think I am familiar with any of the voice acting cast or crew here, so I will move on to the story. Scrooge accidentally gives a priceless trophy to the nephews and has to support a soccer team to get it back. Part of this soccer team is Goofy and actually he is not just great player here, but also a bit on the smart side, which is nothing too common really if you have seen him in other shorter cartoons. This one here has nothing at all in common really with these way older How-to...-cartoons starring Goofy, not just because of the fact that everybody is talking in here. Sadly, some of the voice acting parts were not really working I would say. Anyway, it was nonetheless nice to see a cartoon that is different than the many Disney cartoons, already because of Donald's and Mickey's absence. And it's just as nice to have Scrooge and the Beagle Boys for once. We here in Germany know them as "Panzerknacker", which means something along the lines of "safe crackers". Anyway, don't be misguided by the title as this is an ensemble piece really and Goofy is just at the very center of it for the last 2-3 minutes. Not enough to be mentioned in the title. I guess they did it because he is perhaps the most known from the gang and more likable than Scrooge for example. Overall, this was an enjoyable little film that serves as great preparation for the things to come back then, namely the really entertaining Duck Tales television show.
