(Flash Review)

This film is fun to see Rita Hayworth & Glen Ford go toe to toe with outstandingly acted scenes with much conveyed through emotions and looks. Ford's character earns his keep cheating at gambling and early on he crosses paths and the owner of an illegal casino, Balin, and convinces him to employee him with his unique talents as well as to handle some of his unscrupulous affairs. Later Ford's character meets Hayworth, who have a spotty past together, and learns that she has recently married Balin. Strife ensues around this threesome as well as other various shady dealings. Enough strife that I won't try to get into here, however some of the story's drama is better or more developed than other parts so the story felt somewhat unbalanced. Overall, it's a nice little Noir from the 40s and you get a chance to see why Hayworth is a Hollywood icon.
