Quite the movie!
3 December 2018
Combining a heartfelt story with a superb cast, Michael Doneger creates a story about coming home to nothing being the same. Minor league baseball player Dustin (Alex Russell) returns home after finally hanging up his cleats to find everything has changed. His friends, family, and even the town he grew up in have moved on without him, leaving him to find out what he truly wants to do in life outside of the baseball diamond. Expecting to return to the same quiet town of Brampton, Dustin comes to find that his glory days are well in the past, with no one remembering the high school standout that brought athletic recognition to the tight-knit community. Confronted with deciding between his love of the game and the girl who got away (A Christmas Prince's Rachel McIver), Dustin realizes that the choice to be happy isn't always the easiest, which is a concept that I myself still struggle with sometimes. With beautiful scenery that captivated my attention and a script that is filled to the brim by witty banter and tangible chemistry, Brampton's Own is the movie that will leave you looking forward to your next date night.
