I thought some more about it. A lot was left undone and could have been done differently. When we decide to have children, we fail to take this seriously -- in the age we live in. It's OK to have as much sex as we want, we tell ourselves; but when the girl gets pregnant, sometimes outside of marriage, then some other ... rules are chosen to play themselves out. We give our kids away, and then we regret doing so. Does this film tug at our hearts? Of course it does. But it does so to make a movie. If we valued our lives as potential parents and partners with a little more care and devotion, we might not have the roller-coaster ride of a movie like this one, but we could have better & deeper & perhaps better families.
