The Year of the Henry James Adptation
19 March 2019
Adaptation of the Henry James novel which explores the intertwining themes of love and money.

Helena Bonham Carter as usual is very good and both Linus Roache and Allison Elliot have some very good scenes, unfortunately both Elizabeth McGovern and Charlotte Rampling seem poorly suited to their roles despite their respective talents.

There are inconsistencies in the production values as well as the writing and the performances such that the films latter half is much stronger, but even the first half has some wonderful moments.

Released the same year as another Henry James adaptation Washington Square which to me was a slightly better film.
