5/10
Embittered and disenchanted
28 June 2019
Yesterday evening, I took advantage of a French premiere in the presence of the director Claire Devers, the producer Dominique Besnehard, the actors Grégory Gadebois, Pascale Arbillot, Mylène Mackay and part of the film crew, within MK2 Bibliothèque, in Paris.

Pauvre Georges! (2018) is an embittered and disenchanted painting of our society, with a plethora of characters lacking of self-fulfillment. Actually, most of them are even real caricatures with outstanding abilities such as spreading rumors, farting higher than his own arse, rotting the life of others, thinking oneself as the center of the universe, ... and tutti quanti.

Within this chaotic environment, the actor Grégory Gadebois is awesome. Although Pascale Arbillot, Anne-Marie Cadieux and Stéphane De Groodt are underemployed in this movie, they are nevertheless excellent second roles. In fact, the whole cast is great. In my humble opinion, the script is reduced to an excessively cold and desperately sad observation of the interactions between individuals within a tiny microcosm. Thus, if you wish to enjoy a superb acting game bathing in a dark atmosphere, Pauvre Georges! (2018) is right for you! As a synthesis: 5/6 of 10.
