Review of Blown Away

Blown Away (2019– )
6/10
Great concept, shattered by politics.
1 September 2019
I am a fan of competition shows. Whether baking, painting, or blowing glass, I find it intriguing to watch artists push their skills and display their talents.

This show intrigued me from the beginning. However it became immediately apparent that the skill of the artists took a back seat to the political messages being pushed. I wish we could go back to a world where no one cared what politics you were pushing, they cared about what you were capable of. Unfortunately this show quickly became a blaring reminder of how pathetically partisan the entertainment industry has become.

The show does have good moments. The talent exhibited by the artists is ah inspiring. Most of the glass pieces are truly incredible. However the judges and several of the artists seem to care more about virtue signaling than actual talent. For me, the disgusting displays of partisan hackery ruined the show.

There is a clear winner in this show. The talent displayed will truly Blow you Away. But clearly Netflix and the shows creators are more concerned with pushing their politics than letting the "true" talent shine.

If this is how the show will be, I will not be watching the next season.
