The Ultimate Try Not To Cry Challenge

Warning: Spoilers
This is, by far, the saddest anime I've ever seen. I watched it with my wife, and although I toughed it through the first 21 episodes with only a lump in my throat, the final episode was so sad that we almost began sobbing together. It is genuinely beautiful, and genuinely sad.

SPOILERS BELOW

The best part of this entire series is how all of the supporting characters, as well as the main characters, are all in awe of Kosei Arima. Many of them are viewed as antagonists, but, he is their inspiration, and their reason for playing. In the end, he suffers in silence as the girl he's in love with slowly dies from a disease that she was born with. She's his inspiration; his muse, so to speak.

This anime is definitely worth watching, even if you're not a huge anime fan. It's worth watching if you're not a huge romance fan. It's worth watching if you're not a huge classical music fan.

And if you don't cry in the end...

You're not human.
