Ok so it wasn't a great movie but neither was the first one. However I thought the suspense was definitely there. The whole online chat thing between Adam(Rider Strong) and Justine(Britney Renee Finamore) was great fun. I have to admit that the first time I watched it the twist with Adam's character at the end took me by surprise although thinking back on the movie it made sense because we only actually see him at the beginning and end of the movie, and although seven years pass between when we meet Adam and when we meet Justine he doesn't seem to have aged at all and you would think that if he were actually out in the world he'd have to be doing something and he probably should have looked more like he'd been trying to survive a dystopian society than a slightly straggly J.Crew model. Turns out he was definitely doing something although we only see that in a flashback. Apparently after his lady died he went crazy and started killing people off to ensure his survival and somewhere after he did that but before we meet Justine he somehow got sucked into the network and trapped there which is how he was able to communicate with Justine through the WiFi. While I appreciate a horror movie where Rider Strong's character doesn't technically actually die since in the end he is just sucked back into the network I would have preferred it if they had kept him a good guy and that maybe he and Justine work together to find a way to stop the "ghosts" and save what's left of the world. That being said I did like seeing him play against type and not only be a secret villain but one who was clearly off his rocker. So to sum up this movie may not be great but it's definitely not scary to me and that actually makes it better in my estimation because I don't like scary horror movies but I absolutely love the ones where I can make fun of what big idiots the characters are being and this fits right in with that plus I've been on a Rider Strong kick and I love him even though I've noticed that if the movie is horror or action his character doesn't tend to make it out alive. Whereas if it is comedy, drama, or in one specific case a thriller he actually comes out okay, that is part of why I enjoyed this because technically he didn't die he is just trapped inside the network unable to get out ever again.
