Inventor John Keller boards a plane with designs for a revolutionary new aircraft. Detective Nick Carter joins the passengers at the last minute. There is an attempt at stealing the designs when the pilot lands at a predetermined spot with waiting gunmen. Carter manages to escape with stewardess Lou Farnsby piloting the plane.

He seems like a well-dressed confident private detective but nothing really stands out about his character. This is a story of espionage which fits the real world as it plunges into war. It's breezy. There's no mystery to solve which detective stories should have. Mostly, this feels like a perfunctory thriller with a bit of action. The most impressive scene is probably seeing inside a plane factory.
