Max almost marries Mrs.Roper!
13 October 2020
I forgot how much I enjoyed Hart To Hart when I was a kid. Coast to coast travel, money is no object for this unstoppable dynamic duo. Bullets, crazy fans and a flat footed Richard Belzer(of Homicide Life on the streets/Law and Order: SVU fame) can't keep them down. This movie version of Hart to Hart is set in New York...it has some great iconic New York shots, including beautiful night shots of my favorite Art Deco building, the Chrysler Building. Jennifer gets roped in to contributing to the Broadway stage production of a musical about Jack the Ripper, in which due to an interesting idea by Jennifer, "Jack" is actually a woman who is abused and then neglected by her husband. There is the usual witty dialogue and jokes about New York, but what makes Hart to Hart enjoyable to watch is the relationship between husband and wife. Their relationship is mature, respectful and loving...something that doesn't get much screen time these days. Our beloved character Max, strikes up a relationship with the actress who played Mrs. Roper on Threes Company. The person who really stole this show was our quick talking New York detective played by Richard Belzer. The movie culminates in the bad guy getting caught, the show going on, and a song and dance number performed on stage by Hart to Hart and accompanied on piano by Max!
