Unusual culture clash western

Warning: Spoilers
When a ceremonial Japanese sword is stolen in a train robbery, one of the thieves is forced to work with a samurai to recover it.

This "western" stars Charles Bronson. Everyone else comes from Europe or Japan. For all that, this film works well. There is action, well-realised and likeable characters, culture clashing, humour, mand a pleasing resolution.

Bronson is his usual stony-faced self playing a decent man in a corrupt exterior, helped to find the person he should be by the resolute and absolute morality of samurai Toshiro Mifune. The grudging respect and admiration for each other which grows between these two men is the heart of this film.

It's a minor movie, but it's well worth catching.
