Was it campy...yes. However, I liked this movie very much. I put myself in Taylor's shoes and while at first Veronica was a bit too cultured for me, you got to see the person underneath. I too, would have fallen for Veronica. And...I loved the humor that comes from seeing Taylor trying not to get caught...and not succeeding. One of my favorite movies.
