The Housemaid (2010)
7/10
Neuroticism and classism, hand in hand
18 May 2021
The first two thirds of the movie deserve a full 8: while the plot isn't exactly innovative, acting, script and aesthetic are pretty solid and intriguing. The last part subtly changes tone and steers into surreal territory, which imho completely betrays what the narration had established before.

That said, this remains and interesting depiction of that particular neuroticism that sparks when different social classes meet. Parasite comes to mind: despite many obvious differences, the movies share the same core ideas.
