The title character of this schizophrenic film offering . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . totally disappears about halfway through her story. In the context of a fourth-rate movie, the writers scribble out a two-witches-per-cat rule to inadequately explain the disappearance of the skeletal ancient croon. Checking the Real Life facts of WICKED STEPMOTHER, it's obvious that this classic case of elder abuse involved working a once well-known has-been Tinsel Town tart to death, and then conducting a PR campaign involving nursing home look-alike types to pretend that the old bag in the credits survived her exploitation by a few months. Despite a century of child labor laws, the USA STILL has not implemented Common Sense Elder Labor statutes such as those of Japan, in which people over 60 are prohibited from even lifting a finger for a paycheck. If America had adopted such sensible rules at the same time children were expelled from the Work Force, we would all have been spared from such geezer fright fests as THE WHALES OF AUGUST, SUNSET BOULEVARD, TROG, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?, COCOON, ON GOLDEN POND, THE FATHER, GRAN TORINO, HUSH HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE, THE REMAINS OF THE DAY, THE HUMAN STAIN and WICKED STEPMOTHER. Who would not cheer the removal of so much visual pollution?
