Stranded (2010)
2/10
Slow paced, boring and uneventful...
28 September 2021
I had the opportunity to sit down and watch the 2010 French horror mystery "Djinns" (aka "Stranded") here in 2021. I had never heard about it before I stumbled upon it. And I must admit that the movie's synopsis did sound interesting enough. And of course, with it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I sat down to watch it.

Well, I am not really quite sure what writers Sandra Martin and Hugues Martin wanted to accomplish with the plot and storyline that the concocted for "Djinns". But it certainly wasn't a particularly outstanding memorable moment in horror cinema. In fact, the movie fell short of providing much of any entertainment or enjoyment to me.

The storyline was just simply too mundane and slow paced. And with nothing much of any worth of interest happening throughout the movie, it was just somewhat of a struggle to sit through the movie as it moved ahead with snail pace and offering little or no excitement or entertainment at all.

And when things eventually do start to happen, and you get to the see the creatures that are stalking the French soldiers, you just simply shrug and go "huh, okay". Yeah, it was rather anti-climatic and not really the great thing that the writers were trying to set it up to be.

The acting in the movie was adequate, even though the actors didn't really have much of anything solid or profound to work with in terms of script, dialogue or characters.

"Djinns" was a swing and a miss, and I must admit that I had expected quite a different movie than what directors Hugues Martin and Sandra Martin delivered.

My rating of the 2010 movie "Djinns" lands on a generous two out of ten stars.
