Warning: Spoilers
The only reason to watch The Wicked Dreams Of Paula Schultz is to see Elke Sommer. She is unbelievably beautiful and her films except The Prize and A Shot In The Dark are not often screened so if you have EPIX take advantage. The biggest problem with that movie is Bob Crane's Bill Mason. For those who enjoyed the show Hogan's Heroes and I did, you know Hogan was an arrogant jerk ( except towards Schultz ( John Banner.) and. Hilda ( Sigrid Valdis ( Crane's real life wife)). He was more arrogant in this film and that along with the fact the movie is terribly dated ( no more East Germany), and a missed opportunity.with four members of the Hogans Heroes cast: Besides Crane you have Werner. Klemperer ( Klaus), Banner ( Weber) and Leon Askin (Oscar), a good idea about a defecting athlete in Paula Schultz (Elke) and a very good director in George Marshall it falls apart because of the slapstick humor ( including Crane in drag). The best scenes are Elke without Crane followed by those with Crane and those without Elke are unwatchable ( especially you guessed it Crane's). There is a Hogans Heroes reference when Weber ( possibly accidentally but probably not) refers to Klaus as Kommadant ( after Klemperer's Col. Klink)). Spoilers ahead: As you can imagine Paula and Bill do end up together ( What guy would not want in her prime Elke ( the hottest woman of that era ( except Elsa Martinelli and Ann-Margaret)). 3/10 stars ( all for Elke.
