The Crash (2017)
7/10
"The Crash" or "Conspiracy" or "Jekyll Island" or just an underrated movie!

"The Crash" or "Conspiracy" or "Jekyll Island" is set after an attempt to hack the New York Stock Exchange by an anonymous entity that forces the government to call upon corporate money genius Guy Clifton (Frank Grillo) to help them prevent the hackers from causing a full market crash. Clifton has already been indicted for creating and using the same software the hackers used for profit, so who better? While this movie is entirely fictional, there are many elements taken from the real world that make it as timely and topical as similar movies, like for instance "Margin Call". Again an excellent acting performance of Frank Grillo and Minnie Driver (Shannon), proving that he can handle different characters as in not only beating up guys! The screenplay is straightforward and might be a bit too technical with the finances and technology for some viewers. The mystifying subplot involving Guy's cancer-afflicted daughter (AnnaSophia Robb) and her romantic affairs does not go anywhere. This did not bother me at all as the movie is fast paced with a runtime of only 84 minutes. I am sure there could have been a lot of improvements done script wise and filming wise. But overall I really enjoyed this movie and to my opinion it is completely underrated.
