Maudie (2016)

Maudie, not a fool but an intelligent woman
16 January 2022
Film based on real events from the 1930s in Nova Scotia, Canada. The plot shows us many of those things that happen in our societies. There is no fantasy, but a lot of truth without the need for invention. Gender violence is present, which is still denied in modern societies. A phenomenon reversible with relevant laws but also with attitudes as long as the man really possesses internally good sentiments. Other problems are shown, of which no much talk about them, e.g. The theft of children, who are made to appear dead when in fact they are born healthy and become merchandise for other parents who want to adopt. The female hero of the film managed to overcome countless obstacles, managed to succeed in what she learned on her own, to paint. Her life found refuge in painting to the extent that those who had previously taken her for a fool realized that they were in the presence of an intelligence.
