Video Girl (2011) is a movie I recently watched on Tubi. The storyline follows a girl struggling to make it through college after a car accident who decides to shift gears in life when she gets a boyfriend who directs music videos and pays her well. She ascends to fame after several videos and with fame comes attention, scrutiny and drugs... Can she keep her life and lifestyle together or will her new fast paced lifestyle swallow her up?

This movie is directed by Ty Hodges (Bobbi Kristina) and stars Meagan Good (Brick), Juelz Santana (End of Watch), Melyssa Ford (Think Like A Man), Melyssa Ford (Dinner Party), LisaRaye McCoy (The Players Club) and Haylie Duff (Napoleon Dynamite).

The storyline for this had potential and the high level plot is pretty good but the writing and execution is inconsistent. The acting is very up and down. I thought Good delivers a solid performance but some of the supporting cast were much weaker (Sen, Ben-Victor and Ford could have been much better). The movie doesn't hit the mark on the intensity and lifestyle as well as it could. The pressures and rape scenes are there but the drama around those circumstances wasn't on the same level of better films like Requiem for a Dream or Leaving Las Vegas. The script and dialogue was also inconsistent in terms of writing and delivery.

Overall this is a step up from made for TV but a step down from the intensity it needed to be. This could be a good movie if completely redone and rewritten. I would score this a 4/10 and recommend skipping it.
