Gone, But Not Forgotten
13 June 2022
A fascinating glimpse of how nomadic people of Asia Minor lived and worked a century ago. Inspired perhaps by Robert Flaherty's box office smash, "Nanook of the North" (1922), it also demonstrates that, at one time, people went to theatres, not just for amusement and diversion, but also to learn something. And some people routinely endured enormous hardship. How nice it must have been to sit in a warm, comfy theatre, munching popcorn or goobers, just watching! Merian C. Cooper made this auspicious start to a tremendous career, before crowning it with glory by producing some of John Ford's greatest movies.
