Well done ... but also, overdone.
22 July 2022
Interesting set of interviews (transcripts of which are voiced by capable performers providing the insights of industry professionals as well as first person footage of family members) that shed light on the careers of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Extensive use of film clips (to a fault) grows wearisome after a while and bloats the project. Too many points made repitiously. Fans of the stars are sure to enjoy; cinema enthusiasts may be generally pleased. At the end of it all, one might be left wondering if, even given the longevity and success of their respective careers, are these two such significant contributors to the art that they merit a six-hour mini series? Hard to say. Still, what's here is well assembled.
