Butt Boy (2019)

So strange

Bizarre little indie that can't that seem to make up its mind if it's a comedy, a drama or a sci-fi film. It's actually a bit of each and none of them are terribly successful. I expected a comedy about things disappearing up a man's butt (who wouldn't?!), but for the longest time it plays like a drama before becoming more and more absurd and seeming more comedic, though without causing much laughter. It certainly is original and Tyler Cornack has some talent as a director and as an actor, but his co-star, Tyler Rice, is a pretty weak performer playing a detective unconvincingly. Perhaps he's going for comedy, but nothing he does really works. Nobody else is of any interest. The film is not all that interesting either, though one keeps watching to see where this bizarre premise might go. An oddball film, which I normally appreciate, that just doesn't work all that well.
