The Outsiders (1983)
4/10
Disappointing

This movie had so much going for it, great source material, Oscar caliber director, talented young cast, and a killer theme song from Stevie Wonder, yet it just did not perform. So many moments of drama and tension in this movie completely fall apart due to such a strange editing style, and a horrible soundtrack/ score. This movie feels to short yet weirdly long because of the way it's story is laid out. I love the story of The Outsiders, I have a strong personal connection with it. It's a timeless story with relatable characters, the book is amazing, I've seen it done so well as a stage play, and I think it could make for an amazing movie, but this version just does not do the story justice. Visually this movie is great, the cinematography is excellent; but I feel like that's the only really good thing about it. I never feel the emotions I'm ment to feel watching this movie, and it's hard to give the story much credit since it's not really an original. I'm glad we got a lot of big stars out of it, and from time to time I do enjoy a watch, but overall I don't think this is a good movie at all and I hope that when they inevitably decide to remake this movie, it's a lot better and does the story justice.
