Having grown up during the 80's as a classic He-Man fan, and also a fan of the more modern He-Man on NetFlix I simply can't help but have a soft spot for what most younger and more modern viewers will dismiss as a lame outdated marketing ploy. Is it such? I guess so if you're a cynic. A few random thoughts: It's amusing to see Skeletor act as an Ebenezer Scrooge stand-in and to see him do some good under the influence of the Christmas spirit. Also, if you're going to watch this be prepared for what I thought what was a rather saccharine but thankfully short song.
