Soon after Tour of Duty debuted, we have China Beach which is more of a feminine approach to the War in Vietnam. China Beach was a moving series. Sure some of the episodes were downright depressing but then again isn't war depressing I guess.
Dana Delaney was the breakout star in this, along with Ricky Lake who went on to mega stardom by slimming down and hosting her own talk show.
Also all credit to the extras in this fine series that really deserved a longer run like MASH.
The final season had flash-forwards which was quite innovative for the time. I wish Friends had done the same because that would have made Friends more than just a sitcom.
It's a shame the ratings weren't great, and I wonder what that says about what constitutes a popular and well regarded TV series.
