Maybe my rating is biased because I am French, and the chateaux de la Loire are special to French people, such as Chambord, Ambroise, Chenonceau, and Blois.... I used to drive there on some Weekends in the springs and falls. These castles are the jewels of French History and are still there with their glory. When I started to watch the series, I was skeptical because of some recently streamed miserable "historical" series. Although The Serpent Queen doesn't follow all historical facts thoroughly, it is still faithful to the essence of renaissance history in France at the time. The leading actress is fantastic with her facial expression and eyes. Constable Montmorency is also a unique character because I once visited his wonderful Chantilly castle in North Paris. Seeing his character alive made me feel nostalgia for my college life in Paris.....
