"Happy Days are Here Again" (Barbra Streisand's version) became one of my favorite songs when I won a sizable sum in a lottery a number of years ago (seriously) but I wasn't aware of the song's origin until I happened to stumble upon this forgettable old film. Other than being Jack Benny's first film role, this is another one of those films where the music is more memorable than the film itself. Although it's certainly flawed in places, it does have its entertaining moments, but I'll leave it to film historians to debate whether or not Chasing Rainbows merits any value from a historical perspective. The only things I'll remember is the music as well as the fact that Jack Benny was actually 35 years old when he did this. I always thought he was born 39.
