After THE MAN IN HALF MOON STREET that I saw and commented last week, this horror thriller is also a mix up between the latest and PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, with of course many elements that are available on DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE, HOUSE OF WAX and any thriller of this kind involving mad scientists. A perfect topic for Hammer Films. Pete Cushing or even Michael Gough would also have been perfect in this lead role, held by Anton Diffring just before CIRCUS OF HORRORS. Terry Fisher is obviously in his element and the link between him and Jimmy Sangster can't be a failure for the moviegoers. Sangster who was the best British screenwriter of horror films. Such a shame that he directed so few of his screenplays.
