Will Hay in the early thirties was still finding his way when he played a thinly disguised Lord Reith in a colossal art deco parody of the BBC; but he was already firmly established as a deeply flawed authority figure

Anybody who remembers the fragile young Helen Chandler in 'Dracula' will be surprised to find her playing Hay's daughter surrounded by a fantasy world in which Lily Morris & Nellie Wallace play a couple of charladies, Claude Dampier tunes the piano, the Western Brother report the weather and Clifford Mollison deals with the complaints (although there are topical references to communists and Hitler).

Of considerable historical interest for it's finale in Dufaycolor (obviously modelled on the 'Melting Pot' sequence in 'The King of Jazz') which drove my poor brother spare because he had the misfortune to be watching it on a black & white set.
