This movie apparently was based on Willa Cather's short story, "Resurrection." I certainly hope the short story was far better than this simple and stupid movie. The film starts off with the crisis that happens near the end of the movie, so the viewer has no idea what the two characters are talking about. Then it goes to the beginning of the story. I'm not sure why it did that unless it was done in order to create some type of suspense in a movie that has no real suspense. I watched it to see Fritz Weaver, but his part was minor, and no actor could have saved this film anyway. Maybe the movie makers thought the river could carry the whole film.
