wacky non-real biopic
3 May 2023
It's a non-true biopic of music icon Weird Al (Daniel Radcliffe). It's his semi-real rise to fame as an outsider performer mentored by Dr. Demento (Rainn Wilson). It's his completely fictional romance with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood) involving Pablo Escobar. Mostly, it is his daddy issues.

I love the unrestrained fakeness to this biopic. The only false step is Pablo Escobar. I prefer to stay within the music industry. It's always a risk to go this crazy. They simply take one too many steps and go too crazy. This one goes too crazy. Otherwise, I like the humor. The best has to be the real Al having to sit through the movie making fun of him in front of his face. I love the switcharoo between 'Beat It' and 'Eat It'. The movie should play up that idea by making Michael Jackson, the weird Al wannabe. Mostly, I want the movie to stay within the music industry and the daddy issue. Leave guns out of this.
