Crater (2023)
6/10
It is scientifically wrong, but interesting movie

Warning: Spoilers
To be honest, I didn't have bad time watching the movie. It is a decent family movie.

It is quite dystopian in a way that people are basically slaves for lunar mines. In my opinion it's a good commentary of where is today's world (unfortunately) heading.

I also like the design of the unfinished lunar city. It feels like retro 60s vision of the lunar colony.

But what was making me cringing are scientific inaccuracies. Let me list some of them:
  • Gravity. It behaves as it should only when characters are on the lunar surface which is nonsense. Microgravity should exist in the base, in the lunar rover and on the surface and be exactly the same at all places. One of the characters has a heart issues because of the lunar environment, but he gets magically better inside of the rover because the gravity is different there. Yeah, right.

  • Lunar rover. Anyone heard of something called an airlock?

  • Crater building. Again, airlock anybody?

  • Lunar base. Yet again, why someone hates airlocks so much? There should be an airlock in the rover tunnel. Also, why everything is so unprotected when you know that you will have meteor showers? The spacecraft is just waiting to be a huge strainer, the dome has no covering for the protection etc.

Anyhow, not a terrible movie, but could be much better.
