Summer of 85 (2020)
7/10
Solid Film About Love and Grief
28 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This transitional film takes us on the character's journey from first love to first heartbreak to first grief. Although slow paced at times, the timeline cut scenes allow you to feel Alex's pain while experiencing his bliss. What lacks in the film's love story is time to bring that summer romance to life. It would have been a pleasant surprise to see more of their summer together, small moments, big moments, as well as the exploration of David's boredom approaching. Additionally, the story fails to offer us more of Kate becoming the catalyst for David and Alex's downfall.

The acting was phenomenal in my opinion and I hope to see these actors in more projects that allow them to spread their wings.
