This isn't the greatest giallo movie but it is unique and worth a watch

So Sweet, So Perverse (1969) is an Italian giallo picture that I recently watched on Prime. The storyline follows a successful and rich businessman who saves a young lady from her abusive boyfriend and convinces her to have a relationship with him. As they get more serious he discovers how crazy the ex boyfriend is, as he stalks their every move waiting to pounce. Why is the ex boyfriend so obsessed and how far will he go?

This movie is directed by Umberto Lenzi (Cannibal Ferox) and stars Carroll Baker (Baby Doll), Jean-Louis Trintignant (Three Colors: Red), Erika Blanc (Sacred Heart), Beryl Cunningham (Tarzana, The Wild Woman) and Horst Frank (Cat o'Nine Tailes).

This has many classic giallo elements but is more of a thriller than horror with unpredictable twists, turns and devious characters. The plot is unpredictable and the stalker elements are well executed. The cast delivers strong performances and is as gorgeous as you'd expect for this genre. There are some classic giallo nudity in here. The ending takes twist after turn until you get to an ultimate resolve, which seems rewarding after all of the lies and manipulation.

Overall, this isn't the greatest giallo of all time but it is unique and worth a watch. I would score this a 6.5-7/10 and strongly recommend it.
