So looked forward to this as it was one of the best books I gave read. Does not give enough time to their life together and adopting a dog.
The dog was such an interesting character in the book and they watered it down here.
Harriet is a disappointment. Not because they changed her race but they took the pity out of the character. Harriet was one of my favorite characters in the book as she grows into an independent and happy woman due to her relationship with Elizabeth. As she in turn help's Elizabeth with her struggles of being a mother. In the film Harriet starts out strong and independent and the focus shifts to injustice to her community.
Will finish watching as I am enjoying other parts but the author allowed them to gut much of what made the book so charming.
