Prep work for KGF
14 December 2023
Seems like Prashanth Neel doesn't do small even in his smallest movie. Even though this feels like him showing he can do bigger and prepping for KGF, this is quite big in itself. The narration in the beginning felt too fast and with his style of editing a bit hard to follow which just seems to be the way he likes his films. But until the flashback started at around the 40-50 minute of the film, this was such a bore. The acting was terrible by everyone, and the comedy was atrocious but the flashback completely changed the whole thing. Even in KGF, it was only after they entered the actual KGF, that the movie became interesting to me. It seems that Prashanth Neel's forte is presenting a mythical hero in a mythical world and mothers have a special place in his heart. Even with the rapid editing style, the problems in action are not all covered up but Ravi Basur's music and the shots to go with it make them work very well. Srimurali didn't seem like a good actor at all. His acting right until the action started, looked terrible but once the action started he looked like that character. He had a screen presence that worked to make him such a feared gangster, but he's no Yash.

Even though Neel said Salaar is not a remake, the trailer does make it look very similar but the scope of the film way way bigger than this. I do think that can work with adjustments to this story. Looking forward to Salaar more than ever now.
