It's probably impossible to watch a season of True Detective and not compare it to the first, perfect season. Still, this is a promising start. Jodie Foster's character grabbed my attention the second she appeared on the screen.
The production is not very impressive; some visual effects are questionable, but the location in which the show is set is cool. It's unique, cold and scary. There are aspects of this season which will remind you of the first season. While not being the greatest episode of the show, it is a good setup for what's to come.
