It's not a comedy neither a comedy/drama. I mean, it's definitely not hilarious, you will smile but you won't burst out laughing. And there are not many dramatic moments either. This is a fun ride, literally and metaphorically. An enjoyable movie about serious -but not too serious- topics/issues. Nowadays, it may seem a bit outdated but for a 1962 movie, i could call it even revolutionary. An uptight law student learns to "go with the flow", to loosen up a bit, spending a day with a guy who, let's say, is not the definition of a self-restraint person.

Vittorio Gassman is a force of nature, this acting performance is for the ages. There are so many layers in his performance, he is so magnetic and charismatic.

To be honest, i didn't love it. It's so outrageous and frenzy that loses any verisimilitude. There are not mindblowing scenes, i mean, touching moments neither deep meanings. Not for once i consider it something more than a fun ride. But still, i would have rated it higher -because it was very enjoyable- if the ending was different. The ending is ridiculous. It doesn't harmonize with the rest of the movie, it's like watching a realistic drama with real people and then, during the last minutes, viewer realizes that they were not human beings but aliens and zombies. The ending doesn't fit with the rest of the movie, and in a way, it cancels the whole movie.

Still, this is a good movie, just a bit overrated.
