Premalu (2024)
6/10
Breezy rom-com with extra cheesiness.

Warning: Spoilers
Sachin has just graduated and is tired of being an one-sided lover after getting rejected by his crush. Adding onto his pain is his visa application rejection, delaying his plans to move to UK. Encouraged by his friend Amal Davis, he moves to Hyderabad to purse GATE course. Meanwhile, Reenu is a fresher at an IT company in Hyderabad and has just relocated. Her TL Aadhi forms a crush on her and so does Sachin, when he gets to meet her at a wedding. This leads to a hilarious journey where both Sachin and Aadhi try to woo Reenu, who has specific conditions her guy needs to meet. With Sachin not meeting any of those conditions, will his love triumph? Will Reenu fall for Sachin, forms rest of the story.

The strength of this rom-com is it's simplicity and how casual the narrative is. It totally knows it's limits and doesn't back out from making fun of itself while keep on adding the cheesiness. The starcast are also fun, especially Sachin (Naslen K Gafoor) and Amal Davis (Sangeeth Prathap) while the leading pair are indeed lovable. Story wise there isn't much to boast about and it keeps getting as predictable as possible but it is the humor quotient that works the magic, successfully elevating the scenes whenever the pace started to drop. The runtime is lengthy but the actors make sure one doesn't feel it.
