Victoria (II) (2015)

One Night of Adventures
18 March 2024
The Spanish Victoria (Laia Costa) has been living in Berlin for three months and working in a coffee shop. She goes to a night club to drink and dance and when she is leaving the place, she meets the German troublemakers Sonne (Frederick Lau), Boxer (Franz Rogowski), Blinker (Yigit Burak) and Fuß (Max Mauff). Sonne flirts with her and they go to the roof deck of a building to drink and talk. Soon she needs to leave because it is late night and she has to work on the next morning, and Sonne goes with her to her work to drink a cold chocolate. Out of the blue, his friends arrive and tell to Sonne that they need to pay the debt for protection of Boxer when he was in the prison. The protector is requiring them for a four-man-job, but Fuß is completely drugged and can not go. Now Victoria is called by Sonne and his friends to help them in a dangerous night driving a stolen getaway car.

"Victoria" is an interesting movie shot in one take only with a good story. The beginning is boring but then the film becomes interesting. "The Circle" (2005), with Angela Bettis, was so far the only movie that I had see in one take only. Although not original in this point, "Victoria" seems to be a difficult film to be made, with no edition and certainly lots of rehearsal. The lead character Victoria is not well-developed, and it is hard to accept why she embarks in a dangerous journey with the punks she has just met. My vote is seven.
