I am a hard core fan of the original Halo saga. So when this TV series came out I was super excited. And be fore I complain, credit where credit is due. With the exception of Kwan (I mean just why) the storyline is pretty epic. I like the original Spartans and the dynamic built between Chief, Halsey and Cortana. The directors are really leaning on license for the conflict but I can appreciate the use. And Cortana's character is perfect.
That said, I really don't understand some of the major plot twists. There were several deliberate and pointless decisions by the writers/directors to destroy certain beloved characters. Captain Keys for example. Great character in the game and a conflicted guy in the TV. I get the conflict. But seriously, killing him off because someone forgot to remove the fuel coupler!!!! He was supposed to die trying to save his crew from the flood. It's almost like the producers couldn't afford the actors salary so they asked a monkey to come up with a random way to kill the character off. No meaning, just a random death in an infinite cosmic mess.
And the season finale for season two. You killed the Arbiter!!!!!!!!! Talk about injustice. They were supposed to forge a bond that would save the human race and the Sangheili. I mean they could have had a great moment of mercy there with that fight scene!!!! Instead of sparing the life of a noble foe, just violence and revenge. You're destroying the character of Master Chief!!! Why???? After that how is he any better than the other villains in the show. Season two was a downward spiral of emotions for Chief. And Perez (once again, why? She is bringing nothing but charged emotions and insult to the whole storyline).
Excellent job with the sets, fight scenes and flood. Seriously good job, I appreciate the effort. But seriously, get your game together!! My three year old could write a better plot. And she hasn't even played the game!!!!!
