Review of Pusher II

Pusher II (2004)
4/10
Not Nearly as Good as the First Film
30 March 2024
This film essentially begins about a year after its predecessor left off with a hoodlum by the name of "Tonny" (Mads Mikkelsen) being released from prison after a drug deal gone wrong and having difficulty readjusting to life on the cold streets of Copenhagen for a number of reasons. For starters, being a former convict certainly doesn't help but the main factor is his complete disregard for anyone other than himself. He is completely selfish, unreliable and lacking any self-control--especially when it comes to alcohol and drug abuse. As a result, he soon finds himself involved in one crime after another with nothing to really show for it. Now, rather than reveal any more, I will just say that I don't consider this film to be nearly as good as its predecessor due to the dreary plot and totally unappealing characters involved. Not that the first film had any likeable characters--but at least the plot was more exciting. One other thing that bears mention is the fact that there are one or two scenes of a sexual nature that crosses the line into X-rated territory. Needlessly, in my opinion, but that's just me. Be that as it may, although I don't consider this to be a bad movie necessarily, it just didn't interest me that much, and I have rated it accordingly. Slightly below average.
