HAMTARO: Cute Anime Sells
8 April 2024
HAMTARO (2000-2006) is definitely an ultra cute ( kawaii ) anime series to be sure, and while I certainly do not fault it for that, I can understand why some people would. It might seem silly and shallow, childish and pointless...even a waste of time? But all that can be said of many other animes out there as well. And isn't TV itself a huge waste of time?

Sure, it's ultra cute, sugary and fluffy, but it's entertaining and funny as well, and kinda fun to mellow out to. Certainly not educational or intellectual, but who would expect a children's show about hamsters to be absolute sillyness? Cute shows still have their purpose and can be good positive mood boosters, destressers, and also just takes you back to being a kid again, to a time when creative imagination and random silliness was acceptable.

In some ways we all need that. Sometimes it's good to get a break from our stressful lives and bleak reality, world events, jobs, home life, health, and general stress of life etc.

"The story of hamsters who get together at meetings to talk about their adventures."

All this to say, what is wrong with a little fluffy, silly, and kiddishness once in a while? This show was fun, cute and holds some good memories for people out there. It has a silly concept to be sure, but also a light-heartedness sometimes needed in the world.
