The Tearsmith (2024)
8/10
One of the most surprising "chick flick" movie

Warning: Spoilers
I will lead out by saying that I am male, I have not read the book and I saw it with english speech and english subtitles

The acting by the two leads is good, the chemistry near perfect and the english speech fits. The piano music is very fitting and emotional.

It uncovers layer after layer of the story and in the end, it isn't as much a couples love story, but a love story of the unique dance of broken people and the movie captures it well without too much "Twilight". No vampires, no superpowers, no fight scenes.

The very concept of "Tear smith" is interesting and it really gives an overarching hook to the end.

And I have to say, it is a good ending and monologue. Cementing that this isn't about their love story in the end, but something deeper. Watching it a second time, I was surprised that when the ball gets rolling in the end, already knowing where it was going, I had to fight off not crying.

I don't know if the author or director has experience with this level of broken, but he captures the unique place it creates where others cannot enter throughout the story.
