One Fixer Upper house is going to need to be fixed up...again. For all you fans of the Hgtv series, you may remember the "Three Little Pigs" house in Waco, Texas, from season three of the show (episode 10). It turned out beautiful with brick and dark wood accents and an adorable porch, fitting for the quaint neighborhood. Unfortunately, it no longer looks like it once did. According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, a man suspected of drunk driving crashed into the house late Saturday night, destroying part of the porch and the front room. Owners Ken and Kelly Downs were sleeping in an interior room and were uninjured. However, Kelly told the publication it could have been much worse if it wasn't...

A man suspected of drunk driving crashed his car into a Waco, Texas, home featured on Fixer Upper early Saturday morning, according to a local report.
The homeowners, Ken and Kelly Downs, were not injured when the vehicle crashed into the front room office, according to the Waco Tribute-Herald. The house, nicknamed the “Three Little Pigs House” when it appeared on season 3 of the Hgtv hit was renovated by the husband-wife duo Chip and Joanna Gaines.

What would Walt Disney have thought of the new live-action Beauty and the Beast? What would he have thought of the 1991 animated version? While there are so many questions we’d love to have answered about the man’s take on the modern world, it’s best to look at what we can still learn from such an iconic figure 50 years after his death.
Disney remains an inspiration for students of business in particular, but a lot of his words of wisdom originated with and still speak to the art of filmmaking and creators in general. We highlight six such tips for writers, directors, animators, and more below.
Set Your Goals Early

In next week’s special 90-minute episode, we will see Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) appear at the walled community to collect his tribute, quoting a line from the Three Little Pigs when he says, “Little pig, little pig, let me in.” Negan quickly established himself as an evil force to be reckoned with in his bloody debut, and this week...

"Sesame Street" has come up with yet another perfect pop culture parody with "House of Bricks," a clever take on Netflix series "House of Cards."
The segment stars Frank Underwolf, doing his best Kevin Spacey impression, in a spin on the classic tale "The Three Little Pigs." Underwolf wants to blow down houses made of straw and sticks so he can get into the one he really wants: "The White Brick House."
Underwolf's southern drawl and penchant for delivering monologues into the camera -- which confuses the Three Little Pigs -- are a spot-on parody of the Netflix series, as is the twist ending, in which nothing is as it seems. Check out the clever clip below.
Season three of "House of Cards" debuts on Netflix on February 27.

Netflix’s “House of Cards” just got the “Sesame Street” treatment in a new video — and the results are as hilarious as they are adorable. Disregarding for a moment the fact that a beloved children’s show is parodying one that includes a “Meechsome,” “House of Bricks” tells the familiar story of the “Three Little Pigs” through the eyes of the Big Bad Wolf — Frank Underwolf to be precise. Snow White was a risk that could have finished Disney. Ryan looks at how the world's first animated feature changed the landscape of cinema
In 2013, Walt Disney Animation Studios released Frozen, its 53rd animated feature. With takings of well over $1bn and counting, it ranks as the most successful animated film of all time, eclipsing the previous title holder - Pixar's Toy Story 3 - by around $200m.
For a generation who've grown up with such films as The Lion King and Tangled, Disney probably seems like an immovable cultural force: as recognisable and unchanging as Mount Rushmore or the American flag. But Disney has survived a series of peaks and troughs since its founding in the 1920s, from its decline in the 1970s and early 80s, its revival in the 90s, and its second burst of creative energy in the 2000s.

Box office is one way a film makes its cash: but what are the others?
I know you’ll have noticed this by now, but it’s definitely called show business for a reason. It’s not show show art, show entertainment or even show exhibitionist impulse. Unless movies make money, the money to make movies would dry up pretty quickly. But where does this money come from?
Actually, that’s an easy one. It comes, almost entirely, from you and me and people like us. The real question should be how does this money get from our back pockets and into the coffers of the big movie studios.
Some of the pathways are incredibly obvious, some perhaps a little less so. Let’s take a look at 16 of the ways that movies make money.
1. Ticket sales
I had just started working in a cinema when Jurassic Park was released.

Disney princesses (who we ranked earlier this week) would be nothing without the villains who torture them, tease them and occasionally attempt to kill them. Without a Maleficent, Princess Aurora would just be a boring rich lady with good hair. So it's only fair that we rank all the major Disney villains (the villains merchandized as "official" villains, no supporting villains, and no sequels because no one cares). Now, from worst to best: 33. Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Pigs Honestly, he's so stupid, why would anyone ever be scared of him? 32. Amos Slade, The Fox and the Hound Old men can be scary in their own way, but Amos had a weak spot for his dogs so we all know...

17. Home Invasion
The true sense of urgency in “Claimed” is reserved for the scenes with Rick and the gang of would-be-rapists and murderers invading the house. Seith Mann does a stellar job sustaining the tension in these scenes, as Rick tiptoes from room to room in search of either a weapon or an escape route.
16. Living Dead Doll House
“Claimed” features some memorable moments shared between Carl and Michonne who confesses bits and pieces of her former life to Carl, such as the former existence of her then-three-year-old son, Andre Anthony. There’s plenty of tension to be found in the house-clearing scenes as well, most notably the images of a family, laid out post-execution style in a pristine child’s bedroom. It’s also worth noting that the painting Michonne finds in the house, is a portrait of Mary, who we later meet at Terminus.

In the fairytale classic the Three Little Pigs, -- you guessed it -- three little pigs set out in the world to find their fortune. Things come to an abrupt halt, however, when an asshole big bad wolf comes into the picture to destroy everything they've literally built for their lives. This is also the setting for A Wolf At The Door, an intense drama about haste decisions and the inevitable consequences that follow. Set in Rio de Janeiro, Wolf opens with a mother walking into her daughter's daycare to pick her up. Only problem is the daughter left with someone else without her consent. The cops are called and the daycare owner, mother, Bernando the father (Milhem Cortaz), and suspect / Bernando's mistress...

The concept of the work of art that is unappreciated by the masses immediately, but gains a passionate and overwhelming following decades later is almost as old as time itself. A book, or piece of music, or painting, or sculpture, or film is unveiled to an indifferent public, save a few devout fans, and is only revived once newer generations approach it with fresh eyes. So many films we now consider to be the greatest of all time were not as warmly received (if they were received warmly at all) upon their initial release. Some classics, such as Citizen Kane and Vertigo, benefit now primarily from home media releases, repeated airings on Turner Classic Movies, and the impassioned voices of critics and historians to emphasize to general audiences how important and daring and dramatically satisfying these films truly are. Then there are the films that received a second wind of...

Grimm, Season 3, Episode 3, “A Dish Best Served Cold”

Directed by Karen Gaviola
Airs Fridays at 9pm Est on NBC
This week, on Grimm: Monroe and Rosalee dine out, Nick struggles with his memories, and Adalind mourns Eric
After its two-part premiere, Grimm is back to its usual procedural format this week, as Nick and co. investigate the mysterious deaths of several Portland residents. The series already did its take on the Three Little Pigs, with season one’s “The Three Bad Wolves”, but it seemed likely this Blutbad-Bauerschwein conflict could pop up again. Thankfully writer Rob Wright takes an entertaining approach to the familiar tale of unending blood feuds, and comes up with a decidedly gruesome method of poisoning to spice up the sauce.

Following the path prior established by their hit Walking Dead title, Telltale’s latest episodic adventure game, The Wolf Among Us, which has already had its first episode released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, will soon be making the leap to handhelds – namely the Ps Vita and iOS devices.
The five-part series, based on Bill Willingham’s hit comic book series Fables, tells the modern-day story of several iconic fairy tail and folklore characters struggling to survive in the seedier parts of New York City. Pessimism and disappointment ran its course on The Wolf Among Us throughout development. Not only is Telltale Games coming off of a plethora of award accolades for The Walking Dead, there’s also just so much feverish anticipation for Season 2 that not many became enthusiastic with the plans of a new episodic series hitting first. Furthermore, a sizeable amount of the gaming industry became worried that the success of The Walking Dead was a fluke and that Telltale should strictly focus on it instead of venturing into other comic book adaptations.
As always, the simplest and most honest way to gauge the credibility of these accusations is to just wait patiently for the release, play the game, and pass judgment. "The Big Bad Wolf is always disrespecting the Three Little Pigs," the clip's description explains. "Henry Cavill and Elmo show the Big Bad Wolf how to make Three Little Pigs feel cared for and important. Respect." All you really have to know is that it was adorable. And here are the best parts: When he introduced himself. Hi, Henry! Watch: Ben Affleck as Batman in fan-made Man of Steel sequel trailer When he smiled while Elmo was dancing. And then...

(Cbr) Determined not to be upstaged by the god of mischief, the Man of Steel dropped by "Sesame Street" to teach a valuable lesson of his own. Appearing on today’s episode of the beloved children’s series, which kicked off its 44th season on Monday, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill explained the meaning of respect to Elmo, the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs. “Respect means treating someone in a way that makes them seem cared for and important,” Cavill tells Big Bad, who’s quick to pick up on the lesson. There’s even a “Piggies Rock!” cake involved (Loki...

The “Man of Steel” stud teamed up with Elmo, the Three Little Pigs, and the Big Bad Wolf for a brand new vocabulary word.
Cavill began, “Hi, I’m Henry. And we’re here to tell you all about the word ‘respect.’ The word ‘respect’ means treating someone in a way they feel cared for and important.”
After the gig, Henry praised the cast and crew- “Can I just say, you guys are incredible. It’s really remarkable to watch you guys work. I have enormous respect for what you guys do.”...

Heads up: The forecast is calling for meatballs once again this fall.
In "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2," Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), Sam Sparks (Anna Faris), Brent McHale (Andy Samberg), Steve the (mentally unstable) Monkey (Neil Patrick Harris) and the rest of the team reunite for a battle of epic pro-portions September 27.
We got a special sneak peek of the film -- including never-before-seen footage and a presentation from directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn -- so we're serving up five nuggets we digested from the experience. -- By Christopher Rosa and Jacqueline Lem
1. This movie is pun-tastic.
Every other line in this film looks like it's going to be a pun, and we are perfectly okay with that. The main source of the verbal fiesta stems from the names of the foodimals (see #2 to get the dish on those cute creatures). What do you call a Pb&J sea creature?...

Hollywood is giving another go at bringing fan-favorite Vertigo comic book series "Fables" to life. This time, "A Royal Affair" director Nikolaj Arcel and "Fantastic Four" reboot scribe Jeremy Slater are currently attached to develop a feature film based on the Bill Willingham series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman and his partner Jeremy Clifford will produce the flick through Heyday Films along with Warner Bros.
This is the second time someone has attempted to make a movie out of "Fables." Warner Bros. originally tried to make a film along with the Jim Henson Company back in 2004, but that attempt didn't even get to the writing stage.
In 2005, NBC developed a pilot for a show based on the comics intended for the 2006-2007 television series, but the network ultimately didn't follow through with the project beyond a script order. Similarly, ABC picked up the rights to...

"After Earth," the new summer blockbuster from Will Smith and his 14-year-old son Jaden (oh, and director M. Night Shyamalan), is many things: a lackluster sci-fi action movie, a father/son vanity project, and crucial on-the-job training for a future A-lister. But according to a recent and wonderfully bizarre interview, the tale of a father helping his son navigate deadly terrain is also a metaphor for the Smiths' experiences in Hollywood. And you thought it was just a vanity project.
The story, which Will concocted, takes place a thousand years in the future, after nebulous cataclysmic events forced humanity to leave Earth for Nova Prime, a mildly more habitable planet where the native species, called Ursas, can literally smell fear and aren't too happy about their new planetmates. But when Kitai Range (Jaden), a second-generation Army brat, and his legendary father Cypher (Will) head out for a routine...

It seems that everything old is new again in the comic world these days. Even the terrible comics of the 90’s are getting a second wind thanks to publishers such as Valiant, Image and Dark Horse. While many would rather forget about the 90’s era of comics all together, people are ready to forgive the sins of the past, and usher these characters into a new age. Honestly, did anyone think Bloodshot would be in their grab bag last year? The latest in the long-line of rebooted 90’s heroes is courtesy of Dark Horse, who are hoping the long forgotten X, can find a new place on the shelves.

Were people actually surprised by LL Cool J's not-so-cool appearence on Brad Paisley's "Accidental Racist"? Sure, he's never rapped about chains in such a strange fashion before, but LL's been acting embarrassing for Years now. From a steady gig on NCIS: Los Angeles to having his own line of poorly selling Sears skinny jeans, James is the father you always wanted to embarrass you in front of your friends. At this year's Grammy nominations, he sang along to a beatboxing Taylor Swift. He actually gives the okay for Taylor to do so. This charming collaboration shockingly didn't make the actual award show. In 2006's Last Holiday, James played "Sean Matthews," Queen Latifah's love interest. Spoiler Alert: No one dies. Except me. From embarrassment. "No. 1 was very gay," LL raps about the Three Little Pigs in this weird Disney direct-to-vhs adaptation Simply Mad About the Mouse. It only...

The connection between music and animation is an incredibly close one. In 1940, Walt Disney pioneered with his first animated full-length feature, a musical telling of Snow White and even before, cartoons were common in movie theaters, rounding out the double bills along with newsreels and comedy shorts. For decades, audiences watched shorts this way and several studios duked it out for cartoon supremacy, from Disney (Silly Symphonies) to Warner Bros. (Looney Tunes) to MGM (Tom and Jerry). For the generations raised on the radio broadcasts of Toscanini and the NBC Symphony Orchestra, classical music was a common and valued source of entertainment and so it was a natural choice for animators as inspiration for some of their greatest cartoons. With the rise of television, however, shorts became less and less popular and prevalent in movie theaters and it seemed they may become like so many great classic films- underseen and...

Break out your pink T-shirts and curly tails, fellow swine enthusiasts: March 1 is National Pig Day.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the holiday was started in 1972 by sisters Ellen Stanley and Mary Lynne Rave to celebrate “one of man's most intellectual and domesticated animals.”
While our hog friends tend to get a bad rap for rolling in the mud and being filthy, Hollywood has long recognized the pig’s striking looks, delightful charm and keen intellect by featuring them in many films, cartoons and television shows.
To celebrate this special holiday, we rounded up some of the most famous hogs of all time, from Miss Piggy to the Three Little Pigs.

Hugh Grant is to star in a tongue-in-cheek advertising campaign promoting Guardian and Observer weekend supplements and magazines, including a new Saturday cookery section.

Guardian and Observer publisher Guardian News & Media's campaign, which will run with the strapline Own the Weekend, will include cinema, press, posters and escalator panels on the London Underground and online advertising.

Leading Russian animator whose witty films verged on the surreal
In the face of Walt Disney's worldwide dominance throughout most of the 20th century, European animators forged their own style and content. Fyodor Khitruk, who has died aged 95, was able to find new possibilities for animation in the Soviet Union, but only after the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953 and Nikita Khrushchev's subsequent speech attacking Stalinism. The resulting "thaw" was the beginning of a renaissance of Soviet animation after two decades of socialist realism and fairytales. Khitruk took his inspiration not from Disney but from the cartoons of the moribund Upa (United Productions of America) studio, set up by a breakaway group of Disney animators in 1943.
As a director – in charge of the general design and concept – Khitruk developed a freer, less lush, more economical and more contemporary art style than the naturalistic graphic look and sentimentality of Disney.

Yesterday we posted a trailer for a live-action Three Little Pigs adaptation called The Brick House, which is produced and directed by a filmmaking collective called Pocket Full of All Stars. Basically this team, which consists of graphic artist and animator Gustavo Cervantes and musician Doug Layne Anderson, is just a production company. Techincally, Cervantes is the film's director, while Anderson is credited with sound and music. But they cowrote the script and seem to be an inseparable duo as far as the vision of the project, so it will likely be best to think of The Brick House as a Pocket Full of All Stars film rather than something created by a single auteur. That sort of collaborative filmmaking might just be the future of cinema, as more and more of these kinds...

Pocket Full of All Stars started a Kickstarter campaign to fund a low budget film, titled The Brick House, based on the "Three Little Pigs" fairy tale. Their goal was $7,500, they made $10,288 and have now released the first trailer for the film which turns the pig vs. wolf story into a housing market thriller. While watching, I saw the tombstone with the last name "Pig" and thought that was excellent, but then my only complaint is the fact they decided to actually use makeup to turn everyone into pigs. Personally, I agree with Emily at Flavorwire in thinking it's an entirely unnecessary step, but the trailer alone does have me intrigued to see more. Give it a peek below.

Publicis Mojo Sydney’s ‘Super in, super out’ spot for Hahn Super Dry, which uses the theme music from Knight Rider, claimed one of only two Aussie winners from 92 entries in the Film Lions at Cannes in a year that has seen Australia miss out on a grand prix winner.
The ad, directed by Tom Kuntz through Mjz Films, shows how beer is made at the Hahn factory with things that guys like – beach buggies, rock music, sports, helicopters and a rubber tiger filled with beer.
Michael Canning, executive creative director of Leo Burnett Us, said of the Hahn spot: “Beer ads should be about having some fun with the brand. The agency didn’t over complicate it – it’s a fun, entertaining piece that gave the jury a laugh.”
Ddb Sydney and Soma Films won a silver for Cross country for the Volkswagen Tiguan.
There were no winners for New Zealand.

Every night, we take turns and get cozy in our super-chic rocker and read at least two (but sometimes as many as five) books to Simone before she goes to bed. So we've read a lot of books in her nearly two years of life. There are some great books for kids, and a surprising number of really awful ones.
There's no telling why Simone gravitates toward certain books over others. We have maybe 50 or 60 for her to pick from, but she seems to always gravitate toward a handful of favorites. As dads, our criteria are pretty basic:
We like books with a point. That doesn't mean the book needs to have a distinct narrative with a beginning, middle, and end. It can be a basic book that showcases different colors. But it needs to be consistent and fun. We've read books that are literally four pages long and make no sense,...

Morning Meme: "The Three Little Pigs" Go On Trial, Brad Pitt Joins "8," and The Muppets Get a Sequel
Stargate's Michael Shanks returns to my television screen this summer in Canadian soap Saving Hope, in which the sexy man will star as a brilliant doctor in a coma, haunting his own hospital while his fiancée played by Smallville's Erica Durance tries to save him.
The Indiana House has backed away from plans to restrict specialty license plates, which many saw as targeting the plate for the gay Indiana Youth Group. Citing how volatile the debate had gotten, sponsor Ed Soliday withdrew the bill.
In a move so savvy it might almost qualify as cynical, Tim Gill has appointed Republican Kirk Fordham to lead his Action Fund.
An Oxford grad has returned his English degree to Exeter over their decision to rent space to the anti-gay Christian Concern conference. I'm assuming this is symbolic, since it doesn't affect his record or references.
