With this year being the 100 year anniversary of The Walt Disney Company and the release of their latest animated title, Wish, we wanted to know what animated Disney film has been your favorite over the years? We stuck to films specifically released by Disney, so no Pixar titles are included. What struck me while compiling the list is the progression of their films. From the innocence of their early work to what many consider their heyday in the early 90’s to the emergence of the CGI era. For many of us, Disney films defined our youth, but which is the one that has remained with you all these years? As always, if you don’t see your favorite listed, please click “Other” and let us know what it is in the comments section as well as any fond memories you have of these timeless classics.

As always, the hosts of “The View” went all out with their Halloween costumes on Tuesday, this year celebrating their parent network. In honor of the Disney100 celebration, the women hosted the day’s show dressed as their favorite Disney characters.
Granted, the episode started in a fairly spooky way. In the opening minutes, viewers were treated to footage of a horse strutting up to the studio, ridden by none other than The Headless Horseman — er, in this case, Horsewoman.
As the episode kicked off in earnest, it was revealed that host Whoopi Goldberg opted to go with the Headless Horseman as her costume..
You can see photos of the women in costume below.

The Walt Disney Company is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a hefty new Blu-ray box set containing 100 of its best animated films.
Officially titled the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection, the box set comes with three volumes that open up to feature the original theatrical artwork for each film. Additionally, the package offers digital codes to all 100 movies, a certificate of authenticity, a lithograph from the upcoming feature Wish, and a collectible set of crystal Mickey Mouse ears engraved with “Disney 100.”
Drawing films from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, and the now-closed DisneyToon Studios, the collection offers a pretty comprehensive timeline of the company, founded in 1923. The box set features early classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan, 1990s renaissance films like Aladdin, The Lion King, and Toy Story, and more modern offerings — many of which got the direct-to-Disney+ treatment thanks to Covid — including Soul,...

Since the Writers Guild of American and Screen Actors Guild are both still on strike, this year's Destination D23 convention down in Orlando, Florida didn't really have much of anything to showcase. Sure, the studio showed some footage from Disney's upcoming animated movie "Wish," and they announced that "Haunted Mansion" would be hitting Disney+ in October. But there was one other announcement that might be intriguing for anyone who is both a Disney fan and a physical media collector.
This fall, the House of Mouse will be releasing the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection, which collects 100 animated films from both Disney and Pixar, reaching as far back as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" and up through this summer's "Elemental" from Pixar. Disney just announced the release of the Disney Legacy Animated Film Collection, featuring 100 animated films from Disney, Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar. It’s packaged together as a three-volume set that unfolds into your own storybook.
The set is festooned with original poster designs and comes with digital codes for every movie, alongside a lithograph from Disney’s upcoming feature “Wish,” a certificate of authenticity and crystal Mickey Mouse ears engraved with the “Disney 100” logo. The limited-edition collection will be available on Nov. 14, with pre-orders beginning on Walmart.com on Sept. 18. It has a retail price of $1,500.
What’s fascinating about the set is that it includes a wide array of classic Walt Disney Animation Studios features, along with beloved Pixar favorites and a smattering of films (many of them direct-to-video sequels to earlier masterworks) created by the since-shuttered DisneyToon Studios. That includes “Tinker Bell,” “Return to Neverland,” “The...

It’s the season for thrills and chills, but if you’re planning to watch movies with your kids as Halloween approaches, you might not be looking for the scariest horror films. Luckily, there’s plenty of family friendly fare on Disney+ to add some spooky to your Halloween season.

When you’re looking for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow on Disney+, it doesn’t come up on its own. The short from 1949 was released in tandem with another short based on the Wind in the Willows. The combined films were released under the full title of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, and that’s exactly what you have to type in to get it to come up.
The story, which is based on Washington Irving’s original text, tells of the ill-fated romance between schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and Katrina van Tassel in 1790 Sleepy Hollow,...

It may still be over two months until Halloween, but that hasn’t stopped Disney+ from getting in the holiday spirit. A batch of 20 family-friendly horror films have dropped on the streaming service recently, providing you with an abundance of frights to get you gradually geared up for the best night of the year, with a few stand-out entries worth looking out for.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is one of many anthology pics Disney released in the ‘40s, and is best remembered as a Boomer equivalent of Watership Down, The Dark Crystal or The NeverEnding Story in the “movies that traumatized children” category. Its first segment is based on classic kids book The Wind in the Willows, but the second, more relevant half adapts Washington Irving’s famous short story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, with its rich but dark animation and foreboding tone and music terrifying many of its young viewers.

Don Lusk, the last link to Disney Animation’s golden age of the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s, has died at the age of 105. His passing was confirmed in an Instagram post by the Disney Animation Research Library.
Lusk joined The Walt Disney Company in 1933 and went on to work as a character animator for “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Pinocchio,” “Fantasia,” and “Bambi.” His best-known achievement is single-handedly animating the “danse arabe,” or “dance of the seven veils,” featuring a sultry goldfish during the Nutcracker sequence of “Fantasia.”
The legend goes that the stacked sketches of the fish doing her entire dance would stretch from floor to ceiling, it was that monumental and exhaustive a feat. But a feat of real delicacy and subtlety too. Lusk had previously worked with Eric Larson to animate the goldfish Cleo in “Pinocchio” along with the cat Figaro, whose movements are incredibly lifelike...

When you have all the money, you can be this risky.
Don’t worry, Disney has no plans to make a “sequel” to Beauty and the Beast. But that isn’t to say they’re not going to produce a follow-up to the enormously successful musical fairy tale. Walt Disney Pictures president of production Sean Bailey told Deadline this week that they are considering spinoff and prequel possibilities. Maybe that means we see Gaston’s origin story or a movie about the married characters played by Stanley Tucci and Audra McDonald. How about a gay romance for Le Fou?
The truth is, though, spinoffs and prequels are still each a form of sequel. There’s a matter of semantics that says otherwise with regards to why Bailey stresses those specific types of franchise expansion while dismissing the other, but they all continue the story, whether it’s forwards, backwards, or to the side. Halloween is a time when regular folk allow themselves to see the world as us horror lovers do – weird and wonderful, sinister mischief with tongue in cheek under (and over) tones. They watch that scary movie they’ve been meaning to get to for the past year, string up skeletons, and parade around at office parties in the latest ironic costumes (expect tons of Trumps and Weiners this year). But for the fearful faithful, this is our workaday; we watch the films daily, display our rooms with terror trinkets, and dress up as our favourite icons at constant conventions around the globe. So what separates the actual day of Halloween from our normal routine? TV viewing, of course.

Every year as Halloween gets closer, basic cable and the DVD racks at big box stores are flooded with Halloween programming for kids—Disneyfied TV movies and animated specials featuring all their favorite characters in costume. But are these cash-ins any good? If you’re trying to foster a love of horror in your little ones—or just looking for something age-appropriate to show them during October—navigating the seas of “kid-friendly” content can be irritating at best, downright impossible at worst.

Walt Disney Home Entertainment has been dropping catalog titles on Blu-ray for a while now. Once every few months we’ll get a higher end title like The Little Mermaid or the upcoming Sleeping Beauty that gets their own time in the limelight. In between those, they’ve been delivering smaller films and collections in groups of four or five at a time. This time around they’ve mixed it up a little by giving us two newer top-shelf releases with three timeless tales.

What's It About? Tom Hardy stars as a construction foreman who's driving to London to attend the birth of his child. You really shouldn't have stressful conversations on your cell while driving, but Ivan (Hardy) doesn't care. He has to make sure his big job tomorrow goes as planned, confess to his wife that he cheated on her with a co-worker, and coaching the aforementioned co-worker through the premature birth of their baby. Yikes.
Why We're In: Hardy is more than capable of commanding the screen for the entirety of the movie. Although you hear other characters' voices, it's all Hardy, all the time. Who could argue with that?

A slew of classic Disney movies are hitting for the first time on Blu-Ray, including one double-pack release, and you’re going to want to make sure to pick these up. You haven’t paid attention to some of these titles for a while, and it’s about time you got the chance to catch them on Blu-Ray. The best part is that there’s a great mix of releases hitting. Bedknobs and Broomsticks is all but lost in the cultural consciousness, and it deserves a return. The Academy Award-winning movie from the year I was born is filled with a lot of fun and adventure, and like most Disney films, holds up well for a whole new generation.
The rest of the group covers a great spectrum, including two animated “big” titles, and a 10th Anniversary release. There’s a lot to expose your family to here, so check out all the info below,...

Disney was built on their animated cartoons and films. They've entertained audiences for years, and have inspired us and sparked our imaginations. Like many of you, I've enjoyed watching these movies and shows since I was a little kid, but holy crap! There are some extremely dark and terrifying moments that could really screw a kid up! Disney did some jacked up stuff. I've come up with a list of ten scenes from these kids movies that are the things of nightmares. I should let you know that I wanted to keep this list strictly Disney, so I did not include any Pixar films. I also didn't include such traumatic scenes such as Bambi's mom and Simba's dad dying. Look over the list and let us know of any other scenes that Disney screwed you up with.

Who’s ready for a ghost story? If you’re excited to get spooked a bit, to get a fright or two…well, you’ll have to fast-forward to the final 15 minutes of this week’s movie of choice on Mousterpiece Cinema, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Sure, the Headless Horseman makes a stunning and scare-ifying appearance in this package film, but not until the very end, a source of distress in this week’s conversation. Josh and Gabe are joined by Geoffrey Denson, a Mousterpiece Cinema fan who’s also a recent big donor to Sound on Sight. Is one half of this two-part movie better than the other? Is the animation too cartoonish, as Walt Disney feared? Is Gabe’s Bing Crosby impression up to snuff? Check out the new show to find out!

Walt Disney Animation, the unit that's recently brought us the likes of Wreck-It Ralph and Tangled, has announced its next big animated project. and it sounds stranger than anything the studio has done since, uh, Treasure Planet maybe? During a presentation at the ongoing D23 convention Disney Animation head John Lasseter announced that the studio's 2016 release will be Zootopia, a story set in a world in which humans never existed, and the entire planet has been shaped around animals, who wear clothes and talk like those in classics like The Wind in the Willows. Though Lasseter admits the 1949 The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad as an inspiration, Zootopia will be an original story, a buddy action comedy between Nick Wilde, a fox, and Lieutenant Hop, a rabbit. The main conflict in this world is between the herbivores and the carnivores, which would put the rabbit and the fox directly...

Dimension Films has announced that deals have been made and casting is underway on a sequel to Sin City –the film on which director Robert Rodriguez exited the DGA because they would not let creator Frank Miller share directorial credit.
Since Disney has had a huge success in turning their Pirates of the Caribbean ride into four movies (and counting), they’ve decided to adapt Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride -one their longest-running attractions- into a live action/CGI feature film. By the way, elements of Kenneth Grahame’s 1908 classic children’s book The Wind in the Willows have been adapted before by Disney, in particular the 1949 film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. And the ride is one of the few attractions that are still running at park since it opened in 1955. Pete Candeland, a commercial and video helmer, has been hired to direct, but the project is still seeking a writer.

Here are a few interesting and/or noteworthy projects that were recently added to IMDbPro's database of development titles:
The Rockford Files – Vince Vaughn stars in a produces this feature adaptation of the popular 1970s detective show, which starred James Garner as the titular grizzled private eye. The project is set up at Universal and Vaughn's Wild West Picture Show.
Agent 13 – Charlize Theron and Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt team up for this sci-fi thriller based on a little-known comic book series from the late '80s. The project was picked up by Universal and will be written by T.S. Nowlin.
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride – Arguably one of the most admired attractions in Disneyland's Fantasyland amusement park is based on half of a film that most kids have never even heard of. But, that's about to change thanks to Peter Candeland, who's been tasked by the mouse house to develop the classic children's tale into its very own feature film.
The General – Many monuments and memorials have been made to honor the USA's most famous founding father, but nary a memorable movie. Now, Darren Arronofsky, who's currently planning the biblical film, Noah, has set his sights on the first president as his next project. He'll develop the film via his Protozoa Pictures production company.
The Disappointments Room – Prison Break and Resident Evil: Afterlife star Wentworth Miller is carving out quite the second act to his Hollywood career as a screenwriter with a couple of scripts already in active development. His most recent is this thriller about a family that moves into a haunted house in the country, which was picked up by Killer Films and is currently out to directors.

After the incredible success of the Pirates of the Carribean movies, it's no surprise that Disney has been looking to develop some of its other Magic Kingdom theme park rides into film franchises. A Haunted Mansion project directed by Guillermo Del Toro is supposedly in the works, and now a movie based on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride has gone into production. Disney enthusiasts will know that the ride itself was based on a segment found in the animated film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

Movies-turned-Broadway-musicals-turned-movies are old hat in Hollywood — see Hairspray or The Producers, for example. (Actually, on second thought, don’t see 2005′s Producers.) Now Disney’s taking a new spin on that cyclical formula: Deadline writes that the studio is prepping a film based on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, an attraction that’s been thrilling Disneyland visitors since 1955. The twisty ride is based on Disney’s 1949 feature The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, half of which is an adaptation of The Wind in the Willows, which is itself based on The Sorrows of Young Werther.*

Disney Pictures is set to turn one of its longest-running theme park rides into a combination live-action/computer animated feature - "Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride" reports Deadline.
The ride itself was based on one of the two segments in Disney’s 1949 film "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad", a segment which adapted elements of Kenneth Grahame's 1908 literary classic "The Wind In The Willows".
The ride is one of the few remaining attractions that was operational on the park's opening day in 1955.
Commercials and music video helmer Pete Candeland will direct and Justin Springer ("Tron: Legacy") will produce the project which is currently seeking scribes.

“The Wind in the Willows” was a children’s book published in 1908, and Walt Disney took characters that appeared in that book and created an animated movie called The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad back in 1949. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is a theme park ride based on that film that has been operational [...]

It looks like the next Disney theme park attraction set to get the movie treatment may be .Mr. Toad.s Wild Ride.. Featured at Disneyland in California, the attraction was based on The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, the 1949 animated feature based on Kenneth Grahame.s The Wind in the Willows. So just to keep things straight here, this movie, which Disney is said to be developing, is a film based on an attraction (about a ride), based on a film, which was adapted from a book. Deadline reports that Disney has enlisted Pete Candeland to develop the film, which will be a live-action/CGI mix, with Tron: Legacy producer Justin Springer producing. As Deadline notes, Candeland.s known for directing music videos for The Gorillaz, including this one (which he co-directed): I.m trying to create a mental picture of something from the above video mashed together...

With the benefit of a freshly installed Cpu that allows it to ignore narrative up to 10 times faster, the Disney supercomputer tasked with analyzing existing studio properties for further franchising opportunities and additional quotients of family fun has selected Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride as the next theme park attraction to be compressed into a feature film profit generator. The long-running driving simulacrum—which involves placing humans in a conveyance that turns at sharp angles among sets decorated with representations of woodland animals—is itself an adaptation of Disney’s 1949 film The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad ...

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? For centuries, wise men, philosophers and pranksters have debated whether this classic riddle can even have an answer. But in Hollywood, the answer is obvious: Neither. They're both adaptations of an old TV show based on a book. If you Google the word Ouroboros, it should have a picture of Jerry Bruckheimer's face.
Well, Jerry might not be involved with Disney's latest project, but the spirit of "Pirates of the Caribbean" lives on, as Deadline is reporting that Disney is working on a film adaptation of their theme park attraction "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride," which itself is an adaptation of their movie "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad," which, by the way, was an adaptation of the classic children's novel "The Wind in the Willows."

Just days before the release of "Tangled," Disney shocked the world by announcing the film would be their last fairy tale princess story. But while there was much wailing, another, more positive milestone has been somewhat overlooked: "Tangled" marked the studio's 50th animated feature.
We know what you're thinking: Surely Disney has made more than 50 movies, right? And it's true, they have. But if there's one thing Disney knows even more than animation, it's how to protect their brand, which is why they've designated some of their features to be official classics and others -- like "The Jungle Book 2" or "Pete's Dragon" -- to be, you know, just something they do on the side for giggles and grins.
To celebrate the release of "Beauty and the Beast 3D," we review and rank all 50 official Disney animated features. Let the subjectivity begin.

Mark uncovers the too-often-overlooked gems in the Disney animated movies catalogue...
Not all Disney feature movies get the same level of appreciation, as they're overshadowed by the better known or more rambunctious siblings.
Here are five that, in my view, deserve better...
Alice In Wonderland (1951)
Part of the impressive fifties animated feature line-up, Alice never quite got the love that was reserved for Sleeping Beauty or The Lady And The Tramp. Yet, it's as technically competent, and uniquely styled.
Disney must bear some of the responsibility, however, as, after a somewhat poor box office (by their standards) outing, they demoted Alice to being the launch vehicle for their TV ambitions in a cut-down form. This choice meant that it didn't get recycled at the cinema and moved it down a notch from its 'cinema only' screened peers.
