The wolves are mewing.

That was Bernard Borderie's first movie ,well before the Angelique saga which was one of the biggest blockbusters of the FRench sixties.

A spy thriller,it bears a distant resemblance to Hitchcock's "Notorious" (1946).The director seems more interested in the relationship between the secret agent and the chanteuse of the nightclub whose boss is an "enemy" than in the list of names of spies the hero must grab.Jean-Pierre Aumont was one of the most famous romantic young leads of the French thirties ("Le Lac aux Dames" ,"Hôtel Du Nord", "L'Equipage" )and he shows that he can age gracefully. He plays opposite Carla Del Pioggo,a beautiful actress who would remain virtually unknown in France.Supporting cast includes Fernand Ledoux ,who is very good at mewing!
